With the splintering of the church in the Reformation, and the decline in denominationalism in the 20th century, we now have something new in the way of creeds: Congregational Creeds. Below are some Statements of Belief that have been developed by particular, independent, or "community" churches and ministries, for their own flock. Generally, they are non-binding and designed for informational purposes. In other words, they are seldom used to discipline. Some are done as mission statements. Some are a statement of principles rather than beliefs (Focus on the Family, for example). To avoid confusion and error, churches are sometimes compelled to offer expanded statements such as the one on the Holy Spirit below.
